Gineen Bresso Officially Qualifies to Face Debbie Wasserman Schultz

Monday, June 11th, 2012

On Monday, June 11, 2012, Gineen Bresso, Republican candidate for U.S. Congress released the following statement:

“As of Friday, June 8, I have submitted the required documentation and have officially filed my candidacy for the Republican nomination for U.S. Congress against Debbie Wasserman-Schultz in CD-23. I want to thank each and every one of you for your help and support the last few months.  The outpouring of support that I have received from people in the district is a testament to the viability of the solutions I propose to reduce unemployment, cut the deficit and create economic growth right here in south Florida. But there is much work to be done.

“Travelling around Broward and Miami-Dade County, from Weston and Southwest Ranches, to Hollywood and Miami Beach, I have had the privilege of hearing from so many of you who are frustrated, as I am, with a broken system of government in Washington, D.C. This election marks an opportunity for America to turn a new corner and restore the principles of our founding fathers. By working together, I am committed to being a true, full-time Representative of the people of CD-23 and with your help and support, we can usher in a new era of fresh, fiscally responsible leadership.”

Strengthening our Armed Forces, Securing Our Borders, Protecting America

Sunday, June 10th, 2012

Sunday, June 10, 2012

This week, we marked two important occasions in our nation’s history. On Tuesday, June 4, we commemorated the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Midway, where the U.S. Navy took out much of the Japanese Imperial Fleet, and the four Japanese aircraft carriers that were responsible for the attack on Pearl Harbor. This historic display of American naval might set the course for the remainder of our Pacific advance and helped bring about the beginning of the end of World War II. Then, on Wednesday, June 6, we commemorated the 68th anniversary of the D-Day Invasion at Normandy, the largest amphibious landing in world history.

These events were not just important events in our nation’s history, they were also a significant part of daily life and affected every American and their families, including my own, for generations to come. My grandfather and CD-23 resident, Frank Flori, served in the U.S. Navy and fought in Okinawa at the end of World War II. We owe a great deal of respect and appreciation to our Armed Forces and military families. Their courage and bravery have protected America and our allies for decades. But they are currently in jeopardy.

President Obama and Congressional Democrats like Debbie Wasserman Schultz, support cuts to our Armed Forces, particularly the U.S. Navy and National Guard, that undermines our national security, weakens our border security and threatens America’s sovereignty. Even President Obama’s own Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta called the Democrats’ proposed cuts to our military “devastating.” At a time when America faces new, emerging threats of terrorism, drug trafficking and a rising China, we need to ensure that our National Guard and U.S. Navy have more resources at their disposal, not less. Furthermore, this Administration’s push for U.S. ratification of the Law of the Sea Treaty is a gross submission of U.S. sovereignty to the United Nations, constrains the U.S. Navy, and threatens the free flow of maritime commerce and goods throughout the world.

Rest assured, I am committed to:

- Ensuring that disastrous cuts to our military, such as the impending sequester and President Obama’s “devastating” proposals, are avoided;

- Strengthening our Armed Forces, particularly the Navy and National Guard, as well as enhancing our and Border Patrol efforts.

- Protecting America’s sovereignty and access to the sea.

Upholding these values are crucial to delivering a robust American foreign policy for the 21st Century, and if elected, I will do what is necessary to strengthen our armed forces, secure our borders, and protect America.

Gineen Bresso Statement on Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s Attack on Governor Jeb Bush

Saturday, June 2nd, 2012

Gineen Bresso, candidate for Congress in Florida’s 23rd District, released the following statement on Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s attack on Governor Jeb Bush.

“I am shocked, yet not that surprised, that on the same day that the Labor Department reported that unemployment in the U.S. rose to 8.2%, Florida Congresswoman and DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz would launch a hollow attack on former Florida Governor Jeb Bush for his successful initiative in recruiting Scripps Research Institute to Florida. Her attack on one of Florida’s most accomplished Governors, for recruiting new businesses and bringing high-tech industry and jobs to south Florida, illustrates just how out of touch Wasserman-Schultz truly is when it comes to the issues facing Floridians. Rather than attacking a prominent former Governor, her constituents would probably be better served if she utilized her position as a Congresswoman to help create jobs and economic growth.”

Gineen Bresso Memorial Day Message

Tuesday, May 29th, 2012

Dear Friend,

Over the weekend, our nation commemorated Memorial Day to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives fighting for this great nation. On this humble occasion, we give thanks for their ultimate sacrifice and pray for their families and loved ones.

Gineen Bresso thanks Veterans in Davie

Joining Floridian’s in Davie and Boca Raton, I paused to reflect and remember those before us who gave their lives in the name and honor of the United States of America, and to protect our liberties. I also prayed for the safe return of those that serve and protect us today. It is because of their sacrifice that we live in a free society. Answering the call to duty, bravely and selflessly, to protect America and our allies, the men and women of our Armed Forces stand up to tyranny and oppression wherever it may be, and for that we are forever grateful.

Gineen Bresso with Carl Muscarello (aka the "Kissing Sailor") and fellow Italian-American Veterans of the Broward 10-13 Club in Boca Raton

We must always remember the cost of freedom and honor our veterans and their families, on Memorial Day and everyday. My family and I thank our servicemen and women for keeping us safe, for protecting our values and way of life, and for making the world a better place.

Warm regards,

Gineen Bresso
